Shen Fitness is for anyone who wants to get stronger, leaner and transform their body without having to do hours of treadmill walking and eat chicken and broccoli for every meal. It's no big deal if you haven't been in a gym before or lifted weights before- as long as you’re willing to work hard and be coached then you will fit right in! On the other hand, if you're a triathlete or ex gym lover, you will also fit right in as we tweak all our programming to fit your current level of fitness, strength and health.
You can get started at Shen Fitness by applying for a place on our 28 Day Challenge. Once you’ve filled in the application form one of our team members will be in touch to answer any questions you might have and arrange getting you started in our Intro Session. The first day of your 28 Day Challenge begins the day you complete your Intro Session.
We offer what we call Customized Group Training. This is a unique approach that gives you all the benefits of personal training (as you’ll be on a training program and nutrition program specific to your personal goals) alongside the immense power of training in a motivating atmosphere with other like-minded people on the same journey as you (as you’ll be training in a group environment with the support of our expert coaches).
We have a couple of different apps - one is for tracking your food intake which is super important for your goals, the other one is so we can coach and support you day-by-day and then we also have our members' site for booking sessions, measurements and using our educational content that will help you get life-long results!

No. If you’ve ever tried to follow a structured meal plan you’ll know how much of a pain in the butt they are. It always starts off well. For the first few days or maybe even a week you stick to it religiously, then you miss one of the meals or don’t get the ingredients quite right and it feels like you’ve failed and before long you’re back to eating how you where you were before because that meal plan or diet “didn’t work” for you. This is why we won’t make you follow a meal “plan” because if the plan says you're not allowed sugar, not allowed carbs or you have to eat a banana and you only have an apple you feel like you’ve messed it up. But in actual fact, sugar or carbs aren't the devil and the apple and banana could be very similar in nutritional value so eating one instead of the other will make no difference but it’ll probably have a negative effect on your mind because you feel like you didn’t stick to “the plan”.
All of our programs centre around strength training (lifting barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, etc.) with some conditioning (sprints, med ball slams, etc.) mixed in. It’s also worth noting that nothing we do is random, every program, every exercise, every set, every rep all has a specific purpose. We combine scientifically proven training principles with years of practical coaching experience to meticulously plan custom programs that are designed to make sure you get impressive results every coaching session.
No, you will be placed on a program that matches your personal goals and current level of strength/fitness. If your goal is to lose body fat you’ll be coached through an effective fat loss program, if you’ve never lifted weights before you might be on a beginner strength program, if you’re someone that wants to gain muscle, you’ll be put on a program specific to that, if you’re well trained and want to get really strong you’ll follow a more complex strength program and so on. It doesn’t matter what your goal is we’ve got you covered.
Yes, you will be set up on our coaching app and assigned your own personal coach – this is the person who’ll complete your weekly reviews, do your measurements and be on hand to support you, guide you and answer any questions you might have. You will of course be coached in the gym by a variety of our coaches – this depends on who is scheduled to coach the session you’re at.
Long, slow, boring cardio is not our style. No one ever got the body of their dreams by repeatedly doing an hour on the treadmill, bike or cross-trainer. Don’t get me wrong, we work hard – we just don’t do incline treadmill or cycling until you die of boredom (we don’t even have treadmills or bikes in our studio).
We start each session with a group warm up, led by one of our coaches – everyone completes the warm up together. This is designed not only to physically prepare you to train but also to help you mentally relax from the stresses and strain of the day. Once the warm-up is complete you’ll head to the screen where you’ll see you session for the day written up. You’ll then copy down your session into your Shen Fitness Training Diary then get training alongside everyone else in the group. During the session there will always be a coach there to make sure you’re getting everything right, working hard and making real long-lasting changes to your body.
Absolutely not. Everything we do is tailored to your current level of strength and fitness. It doesn’t matter if you’re super fit or have never lifted a dumbbell in your life, Shen Fitness is a place where everyone can make positives changes, transform their body and have fun in the process. We have people of all different shapes and sizes and varying levels of strength and fitness training with us. We estimate that at least 90% of our members were novice gym-goers or were returning to exercise after a long break when they started with us.
Yes, it will help your body temperature increase faster to help you get warmed up to prevent injuries.
Yes, it can so please dress warmly in the winter. After you are warmed up, please hang your sweater, jacket, etc. outside the studio on our designated hooks.
No, but we do have some sample stretch programs if you want that we can send to you on the App if you ask your personal coach.
We don't have our members make up any sessions or classes as you are all signed up on a program or membership where your payment covers more than the coaching sessions. Your payment also includes personalized nutrition coaching, individualized weekly out-of-session coaching check-ins and monthly health assessments with the InBody Scanner.
Please check, book, reschedule or cancel all your sessions on the booking system as you have full access to do so from your booking system account.
Our booking system has an automatic waitlist for any full classes so members would get automatically added if a spot frees up.
We keep a very close eye on attendance numbers on a weekly basis so we know that we always have a good amount of space before we hit our capacity.
Of course, certain time slots like 6am and 6pm are typically more popular.
So if this is your preferred time, we would advise getting booked in as far as possible up to 7 days in advance as these sessions fill up faster than most others.
If there is another COVID-19 lockdown, we will be in touch with all our members to discuss the transition to Online Coaching Sessions.
Unfortunately we're not insured to have children or pets on site.
Some times and days are not in our plans right now but we may revisit them in the future.
